Ricky Nielsen

Ricky Nielsen is an accomplished R&D leader with over 15 years of experience in driving innovation and product development within the medical device industry. Currently serving as Director of R&D at Esco Medical, Ricky oversees a distributed team of 20 developers across Denmark and Lithuania. He is spearheading new product development, maintaining existing product lines, and enhancing overall product quality to ensure compliance with manufacturing and regulatory standards.  

Under Ricky’s leadership, the R&D team has grown from a small group to a robust department of multidisciplinary professionals specializing in electronics, mechanics, and software. Notably, he also achieved CE marking for a comprehensive product line in accordance with the Medical Device Regulation (MDR) and has implemented advanced document management systems through JIRA and Confluence for Esco. At Prevas A/S, Ricky led his team of developers, managing projects for industrial clients and ensuring successful platform and application development. During his tenure at Unisense FertiliTech, he implemented SCRUM methodologies, enhanced software documentation quality to meet ISO 13485 and FDA standards, and established robust risk management processes compliant with ISO 14971.  

Ricky holds a B.Sc. in Electronic Engineering and Computer Science from the Faculty of Engineering, University of Southern Denmark.
